Create ALIAS records at the zone root
Hosted DNS now supports ALIAS records, allowing the zone root to point to a hostname where a CNAME cannot be used. Choose ALIAS when adding a record and provide the target hostname.
-
Add comments to DNS records
DNS records can now include comments to explain their purpose. Comments from supported zone imports are also preserved, helping you keep context when managing or migrating a hosted zone.
-
Retrieve domain activity through the API
Integrations can retrieve domain activity from the team activity API. Use the activity history to review changes and events without reading them manually in the app.
-
Review portfolio renewal costs
Open Portfolio overview from Settings to review active domains set to auto-renew and their renewal costs. The overview groups standard domains by extension and lists premium domains separately, helping you estimate the cost of keeping your portfolio.
-
Filter domains by status and sort API listings
The Domains list now includes a status filter to narrow your portfolio to the lifecycle states you want to review. API collection requests also support sorting, with additional sortable fields available for domains.
-
Filter API results by metadata
Collection API requests can now filter objects by their stored metadata. Use metadata filters to retrieve the subset associated with a customer or workflow instead of filtering the full response in your integration.
-
Update nameservers for several domains
Select domains in the Domains list and apply a saved nameserver template through the bulk actions. Create the template under Settings first, and prepare the destination DNS zones before changing nameservers.
-
Forward domain email to another inbox
Configure mail forwarding for a domain using hosted DNS and add aliases that deliver mail to your chosen inboxes. Review the DNS changes needed to enable forwarding before applying them.
-
Preview upcoming invoices and set up automatic payments
Open the upcoming invoice view in Settings to review expected charges before an invoice is issued. You can also choose Setup mandate to authorize automatic invoice payments, or remove an existing mandate when you want to pay manually.
-
Manage web redirects through the API
Integrations can create, update, and remove a domain's web redirects through the API. Configure the target hostname, destination, redirect status, and path or query forwarding without opening the web app.
-
Configure redirects for multiple hostnames
Add separate web redirects for the root domain and subdomains. Each redirect can choose its destination and redirect status, and whether to preserve the incoming path and query parameters.
-
Export your domain list to CSV
Use Export from the Domains list to download your portfolio as CSV. Use the exported list for reporting or reviewing domains outside the app.
-
Connect services with Domain Connect
Compatible services can send you to Domain Chief to configure their DNS records through Domain Connect. Review the proposed changes and approve them for a domain using hosted DNS.
-
Save and reuse nameserver templates
Create nameserver templates under Settings and select one when configuring a domain's nameservers. Reuse a saved set when registering or transferring domains instead of typing the same nameservers each time.
-
Approve or deny outgoing domain transfers
When another registrar requests a supported domain transfer, the domain page now shows Transfer Pending with Approve and Deny actions. Review the request and choose whether to let the domain move to the new registrar.
-
Change auto-renewal for several domains
Select domains in the Domains list and use the bulk actions to enable or disable auto-renewal. Review the affected domains' renewal settings before allowing their current registration terms to end.
-
Register and transfer domains through the API
Integrations can request a domain registration or incoming transfer through the API, supplying the domain, contacts, and required registration or transfer details. Follow the returned domain's status to track completion.
-
Export a hosted DNS zone
Open a domain's DNS records and use Export to download its zone. Keep an export before changing records or use it when moving your DNS to another provider.
-
Import DNS records from TransIP
Choose TransIP in the hosted DNS import flow and provide a read-only access token to retrieve an existing zone. Review the imported records before moving the domain to Domain Chief nameservers.
